Nutritional IV Therapy FAQs

  • When you receive fluids, medications and vitamins via IV therapy, they bypass digestion and go directly into the bloodstream. The benefits to this include:

Quicker uptake: Instant uptake of fluids, medications and supplements by your body, so you feel better faster.

Better absorption: Your body can better absorb vitamins, medications and supplements via IV than via oral methods like pills (~50% of the vitamin is absorbed orally, while ~90% is absorbed in IV form).

Acute illness: When you're nauseous, have vomiting or diarrhea, staying hydrated orally can be difficult.

Chronic illness: Bypassing digestion can be helpful - even necessary - for many sufferers of chronic illnesses, particularly those that impair digestive organs like IBS, IBD, GERD, Crohn's disease, Celiac disease and Colitis.

Age: Our ability to digest and absorb vitamins from pills - and from food itself - gets worse as we age, and can lead to deficiencies. Even mild deficiencies in certain vitamins can lead to fatigue, brain fog and faster aging.

Lifestyle: Lifestyle factors like smoking, alcohol and drug use can impact your ability to absorb the nutrients from pills, while at the same time depleting your body of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants in order to process these toxins.

Diet: People on restrictive diets may not get enough of certain vitamins and minerals from food.

The minimum price to have an IV administered is $100-$289, depending on which package you choose. Add-on options are extra. After hours and weekend/holiday calls will also incur a fee.

  • To receive IV infusion therapy, patients must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Different therapies vary, but in general not more than one IV per "therapy" per week. We would likely not want to give more than 2 in a week of varying therapies either but there are always some exceptions. For example Basic Hydration up to 3 times a week if someone is working outside in 115 degree heat might be warranted. Typically though, 1-2 per week spaced out 2-3 days apart.

  • Yes, there are certain IV drip packages that are safe to receive while you are pregnant barring no conditions of pregnancy that may make you ineligible (Preeclampsia, Kidney or Liver disease, active infections, etc). Our Prenatal Drip is perfect for clients suffering from pregnancy-induced nausea/vomiting.

If you are currently breastfeeding, please let us know, as there are certain infusions that you should not receive for safety reasons.

  • No, you do not need a prescription or order from your primary care physician.

We operate under a strict set of medical protocols that are reviewed and supervised by our board certified medical director/physician. We have standing orders based on their guidance.

  • Our IV therapy is contraindicated in clients who have certain allergies, severe CHF, liver or kidney disease, and anyone under the age of 18. Every person receiving an IV drip will have a consult with one of our MDs to go over your health history and see if you are a good candidate for our services.
